I always toyed with the idea of taking a second cat into my house. Unfortunately, Minou wasn’t very open to that idea since she preferred a more solitary life.
Minou fought very hard to recover from her latest illness but unfortunately Minou lost the last battle. With Minou gone, my house felt empty and soulless and I very quickly picked up the idea again to search for a new cat in my life.
Me being me, I preferred to adopt a cat almost no one would want. And this became Georges who was rescued by a no kill shelter: Kat Zoekt Thuis.
It’s obvious Georges had a hard life. He’s estimated to be around 10 years old, one eye was infected and had to be removed, problems with his right leg, AIDS (which prevents him from going outside to avoid infecting other cats) and probably a few other problems as well. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to spend the rest of his days in comfort. It’s not because nature is cruel, that we, human beings, have to be cruel to him as well.
He’s a real sweetheart, purring as soon as you stroke him and, just like Minou, can’t have enough from being combed. I hope he has still many years left in him.
